Jacob Markstrom Avoids Injury Despite Early Exit Against Buffalo

Florida Panthers goaltender Jacob Markstrom avoided injury after exiting Monday's 5-3 loss to the Buffalo Sabres due to tightening up. Before departing after the first period, Markstrom stopped nine of 11 shots. Akira Schmid replaced him in relief, surrendering three goals on 21 shots. Markstrom carries a 2-1-1 record to open the campaign, and the Panthers will evaluate how he feels ahead of Tuesday's road matchup against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
