Dylan Garand made 19 saves to lead the New York Rangers to a 6-2 victory over the Vancouver Canucks on Sunday. The 24-year-old netminder, who went unclaimed on waivers prior to the season, has stepped into the starting role with Igor Shesterkin out for the season and backup Joonas Korpisalo sidelined with a lower-body injury. Garand earned the start at Madison Square Garden as New York improved to 5-2-0 on the year with Spencer Martin serving as backup.
