Fred VanVleet Resting Sunday Following Strong Return From ACL Injury

Fred VanVleet (rest) is not expected to play in Sunday's preseason game against the Mavericks. He made his first appearance on Friday since suffering an ACL injury over a year ago, tallying 17 points (5-12 FG, 5-12 3Pt, 2-3 FT), seven assists, two rebounds, and two steals in 24 minutes during a 135-117 preseason win over Dallas. While the veteran point guard will likely be managed throughout the 2026-27 season, he remains on track to start on Opening Night for Houston.
