Mike Matheson Penalized Late In Canadiens' 5-2 Loss

Montreal Canadiens defenseman Mike Matheson was penalized for tripping Steven Stamkos in the neutral zone late in Thursday's game against the Nashville Predators. The resulting power play proved costly for Montreal, as Roman Josi fired a point shot that Ryan O'Reilly redirected for the go-ahead goal with 3:16 remaining. The penalty triggered a collapse as the Predators rallied from a 2-0 deficit to secure a 5-2 victory, extending Montreal's winless streak to three games.
