Chandler Simpson Starts on Bench for Rays Against Left-Hander Max Fried

Chandler Simpson is out of the Tampa Bay Rays' starting lineup for Wednesday's ALDS Game 3 against the New York Yankees. The left-handed-hitting outfielder begins on the bench as the Yankees turn to southpaw Max Fried on the mound. Simpson opened the series going 1-for-8 at the plate through the first two games, prompting the Rays to give Ryan Vilade a starting nod in the outfield for this pivotal postseason matchup.
