Marcus Mariota Suffers Sprained MCL With Optimistic Return

Washington Commanders quarterback Marcus Mariota suffered a sprained MCL during Sunday's loss to the Indianapolis Colts, forcing rookie backup Athan Kaliakmanis into action. Head coach Dan Quinn stated the team did not place Mariota on injured reserve, remaining optimistic he will follow a similar timeline to his preseason knee injury. He is expected to miss two games and a bye before a potential Week 8 return, while Jayden Daniels prepares to start.
