Mason Montgomery Emerges As Pirates' Dominant Reliever and Closer

Pittsburgh Pirates relief pitcher Mason Montgomery made a massive splash in his first year with the club, recording a 6-4 record, 2.88 ERA, and 68.2 innings across 70 appearances. Acquired in a trade with the Rays, Montgomery transformed from a rookie with high strikeout potential into an overpowering closer, setting a franchise record with 25 straight scoreless appearances and solidifying himself as a breakout star.
