Ilya Sorokin Earns 30th NHL Shutout in Islanders' 6-0 Home Opener Victory

New York Islanders goaltender Ilya Sorokin turned away all 37 shots in a 6-0 home opener win against the New Jersey Devils, securing his 30th career NHL shutout and earning the team's new canoe paddle post-game hero award. He becomes the first goaltender from the 2014 NHL Draft class to reach the 30-shutout milestone. The Vezina Trophy runner-up from last season continues to anchor the Islanders after previously passing franchise legend Chico Resch on the team's all-time shutout list.
