Ketel Marte Criticized by Diamondbacks Leadership Over August Absence
Arizona Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo and owner Ken Kendrick publicly addressed Ketel Marte following an unexcused three-game absence in August, with Kendrick citing "consistent acts of immaturity." Lovullo stated he will no longer protect Marte publicly moving into 2027. Marte, who apologized upon returning and cited frustration and physical pain, batted .249 with 22 home runs and 76 RBIs in 141 games. He holds 10-5 trade veto rights under his contract through 2031.
