Gerrit Cole Takes Hard-Luck Loss in Yankees' ALDS Game 1 Defeat

New York Yankees ace Gerrit Cole took a hard-luck loss in a 1-0 ALDS Game 1 defeat to the Tampa Bay Rays, allowing one run over five strong innings on 82 pitches. Returning on nine days of rest, Cole gave up five hits, one walk, and struck out five, with the only damage coming on Jonathan Aranda's third-inning solo home run. Manager Aaron Boone pulled Cole after five, but Cole expressed full confidence ahead of Game 2.
