Alex Tuch Scores Twice in Debut as Capitals Defeat Hurricanes

Alex Tuch made an immediate impact in his Washington Capitals debut, scoring two goals in a 5-2 victory over the Stanley Cup champion Carolina Hurricanes. Acquired via offseason trade from Buffalo, Tuch opened the scoring at 6:33 of the first period with a wrist shot assisted by Alex Ovechkin, then added a backhand goal later in the frame. Cole Hutson, Jakob Chychrun, and Ryan Leonard also scored, and Logan Thompson made 31 saves to power Washington's dominant opening win.
