Fernando Tatis Launches First-Pitch Leadoff Homer in Playoff Opener
San Diego Padres star Fernando Tatis set the tone in Game 1 of the NL Wild Card Series against the Chicago Cubs, smashing a 405-foot leadoff home run on the very first pitch from Matthew Boyd. Tatis became the first player in franchise history to hit a leadoff home run in the postseason. He later reached base five times alongside Manny Machado, stole second, and scored in the seventh inning to help propel San Diego to an 8-0 victory at Petco Park.
