Joe Musgrove Returns From Tommy John Surgery in Game 1 Win

San Diego Padres right-hander Joe Musgrove made his long-awaited return to the mound in Game 1 of the NL Wild Card Series, pitching a scoreless ninth inning to lock down an 8-0 win over the Chicago Cubs. Appearing in his first MLB game since October 2024 following Tommy John surgery and rehab setbacks, Musgrove loaded the bases on two hits and a walk before escaping cleanly. He was added to the postseason roster to serve out of the bullpen.
