Anthony Volpe in Play to Start Game 1 Against Red Sox Lefty

Anthony Volpe is heavily in the mix to start Game 1 of the AL wild-card series at second base against Boston left-hander Payton Tolle. Manager Aaron Boone weighed starting the right-handed hitting Volpe over the left-handed Jazz Chisholm Jr., who is returning from a right thumb sprain. Volpe is 0-for-2 against Tolle in his career but has put himself squarely in the equation for the postseason matchup as the Yankees evaluate their optimal lineup configuration.
