Colson Montgomery Sets MLB Single-Season Strikeout Record

Chicago White Sox shortstop Colson Montgomery set an MLB single-season record Friday by recording his 224th strikeout of the year during a fifth-inning at-bat against Colorado. The 24-year-old broke Mark Reynolds' 2009 mark of 223. Despite hitting .199 with 38 strikeouts in September, Montgomery has tallied 31 home runs, 87 RBI, and a 1.9 WAR, helping Chicago clinch its first postseason berth since 2021.
