Colson Montgomery Breaks Single-Season MLB Strikeout Record

Chicago White Sox shortstop Colson Montgomery struck out for the 224th time this season against Colorado pitcher Tomoyuki Sugano, breaking Mark Reynolds' 17-year-old MLB single-season strikeout record. Montgomery has 31 home runs, 112 hits, and 87 RBI with a .202 batting average in his first full big-league season. The strikeout milestone comes just a day after Chicago clinched their first playoff berth since 2021.
