William Contreras Lifted Late in Brewers Win Due to Lack of Hustle

Milwaukee Brewers manager Pat Murphy removed William Contreras for a pinch hitter late in Thursday's 5-1 win over the Phillies because the backstop failed to run out a grounder. Murphy stated the move sends a message that a lack of hustle will not be tolerated, though it is not expected to impact Contreras's playing time moving forward. Contreras is a three-time All-Star who entered Thursday's action with a hot .886 OPS through the month of September.
