RJ Barrett's Future with Raptors Uncertain Amidst Contract Talks

RJ Barrett's role with the Toronto Raptors is under scrutiny as he enters the final year of his contract. After a strong 2024-25 season and helping the Raptors reach the playoffs in 2025-26, Barrett expressed a strong desire to remain in Toronto. However, the team's financial situation, including luxury tax implications and extensions for Kawhi Leonard and Jakob Poeltl, complicates a potential new deal. Barrett's salary demands may clash with the Raptors' budget, potentially leading to trade talks, despite his Canadian heritage and team-first attitude.
