Gage Wood's Season Ends on Development List Due to Innings Limit

Top pitching prospect Gage Wood's season has effectively ended after the Phillies placed him on the development list, likely due to a predetermined 100-inning limit; he pitched 99 innings. The 22-year-old had a solid first full professional season, starting at Low-A Clearwater before a late May promotion to Double-A Reading, skipping High-A. In 17 Double-A starts, Wood posted a 4.72 ERA with 99 strikeouts and 18 walks, also starting the MLB Futures Game. He will likely begin 2027 in Double-A, with a loosened innings restriction, and could reach Triple-A.
