Geno Smith Seeks to Open Passing Game for New York Jets

New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith has avoided giving up any turnovers through the first two games of the season, completing 70.8% of his passes. However, Smith is averaging just 5.8 air yards per attempt, tied for 28th in the league. Analysts have challenged Smith to open up the passing attack and take deeper shots downfield to maximize the team's skill position talent ahead of an explosive Week 3 matchup against the Detroit Lions.
