Anthony Edwards Gains Help as Timberwolves Trade for LaMelo Ball

Anthony Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves enter the 2026-27 season looking to break through in the West after trading Julius Randle and Naz Reid to acquire guard LaMelo Ball and signing free agent Jonathan Kuminga. With opponents frequently throwing double-teams at Edwards, Ball is expected to take over primary ball-handling and playmaking duties. The Timberwolves hope added offensive creators like Ball, Kuminga, and Ayo Dosunmu will alleviate pressure on Edwards and help them surpass last year's second-round playoff exit.
