Marcus Smart Blasts Lakers' Offer as Disrespectful Before Signing With Rockets
Marcus Smart opted out of a two-year, $10.5 million contract with the Los Angeles Lakers and called their off-season extension offer "disrespectful" and lacking security compared to deals given to lesser performers. Smart, who emerged as a playoff starting anchor for L.A. with 1.4 steals and a 116.9 defensive rating, subsequently signed a two-year, $12.4 million deal with the Houston Rockets to reunite with head coach Ime Udoka.
