Semyon Varlamov Completes Improbable Return After 662-Day Injury Absence
Semyon Varlamov completed a 662-day absence following double knee-replacement surgery, stopping 10 shots in relief of Ilya Sorokin during the New York Islanders' 4-3 preseason win over the Rangers. Varlamov last played on November 29, 2024. Head coach Pete DeBoer and teammates praised his inspirational comeback. Varlamov stated his knees feel good and he is ready to play full preseason games to prepare for his backup role behind Sorokin this season.
