DJ Herz Set for Nationals Return After Nearly Two-Year Absence

Washington Nationals left-hander DJ Herz is scheduled to make his long-awaited return to a major league mound against the Detroit Tigers. Herz missed nearly two full seasons while recovering from Tommy John surgery and a subsequent flexor strain. After building his arm strength back up in minor league rehab outings, where his fastball velocity steadily climbed back to 92-93 mph, the southpaw aims to use his remaining late-season starts to build momentum for 2027.
