Andrew Painter Struggles With Long Ball in Phillies Loss

Rookie Andrew Painter struck out seven and walked one over 5.1 innings in a 10-3 loss to the Mets, but surrendered a costly three-run homer to Francisco Alvarez in the fifth. All four runs allowed came via home runs, bringing his season total to 48% of earned runs yielded via long balls. With Jesus Luzardo's return timeline uncertain, the Phillies are weighing whether to transition Painter's powerful stuff into a bullpen relief role for the postseason.
