Sonny Gray Weighs Retirement After Strong Season With Boston Red Sox
Boston Red Sox veteran right-hander Sonny Gray is reportedly considering retirement after the 2026 season, telling The Boston Globe he would step away if his family desired. Turning 37 in November, Gray has enjoyed a stellar 14th MLB season with a 2.82 ERA over 163 innings. If 2026 is indeed his final year, his last start could fittingly come against his former team, the rival New York Yankees, in a projected AL Wild Card Series matchup at Yankee Stadium.
