Clay Holmes Struggles With Command as Chicago Cubs Fall to Reds

Clay Holmes issued five walks over five-plus innings in Friday's 6-4 loss to the Cincinnati Reds, tying a career high. Four of the five walked batters scored, including two in Cincinnati's game-deciding three-run sixth inning. Holmes also uncorked an errant pickoff throw that allowed a runner to reach third base. Charged with five earned runs on the night, Holmes took the loss as his command troubles derailed Chicago's bid to secure a wild-card victory.
