Pierre Engvall Fighting for Roster Spot at Islanders Training Camp
New York Islanders forward Pierre Engvall is fighting to prove his worth during training camp after missing last season due to hip and ankle surgeries. Carrying a four-year, $12 million contract, Engvall is battling a crowded room of forwards for a spot on the 23-man roster. Coach Pete DeBoer noted that Engvall and a large group of forwards are competing for roster cases as the Islanders navigate a shortened 13-day training camp ahead of the new season.
