José Urquidy Claimed Off Waivers by Phillies to Bolster Bullpen

The Philadelphia Phillies claimed 31-year-old right-hander José Urquidy off waivers from the Chicago White Sox on Thursday. Urquidy posted a 4.37 ERA across 22.2 innings mostly in long relief with Chicago in 2026. He could make his organization debut on Friday against the New York Mets in a bullpen game as Philadelphia manages Jesús Luzardo's shoulder injury. Urquidy will not be eligible for the Phillies' postseason roster.
