Carlos Correa Will Not Return to Houston Astros Lineup in 2026

Houston Astros manager Joe Espada confirmed Tuesday that shortstop Carlos Correa will not return in 2026 following left ankle surgery in May. Despite hopes that he would start a rehab assignment with Triple-A Sugar Land after swinging and fielding grounders without setbacks, the workload required to reach game shape proved too demanding with less than two weeks remaining. Correa posted a .279/.369/.418 slash line in 32 games prior to his injury.
