Jesús Luzardo Placed on 15-Day IL with Left Shoulder Inflammation

The Philadelphia Phillies placed All-Star starter Jesús Luzardo on the 15-day injured list retroactive to Saturday due to left shoulder inflammation. An MRI revealed no structural damage, and interim manager Don Mattingly expects Luzardo to return when eligible on Sept. 27 for the regular-season finale. The left-hander holds a 14-5 record, 2.87 ERA, and 221 strikeouts over 178 2/3 innings, coming off a two-hit shutout against Atlanta in his previous outing.
