Devin Williams Nears Return to Mets Bullpen From IL

New York Mets closer Devin Williams threw his third bullpen session Monday and will face live hitters Thursday as he recovers from a right shoulder strain that sidelined him since August. Williams does not expect to need a minor league rehab assignment and aims to pitch before the regular season ends on Sept. 27. He praised Kodai Senga for excelling as a fill-in closer during his absence while expressing enthusiasm about rejoining a surging bullpen.
