Payton Tolle Pitches Immaculate Inning, Tosses Six Shutout Frames

Boston Red Sox southpaw Payton Tolle started Sunday's 4-1 win against the Kansas City Royals by throwing an immaculate inning, striking out three batters on nine consecutive pitches. The rare feat was the eighth in franchise history and MLB's 124th overall. Despite a two-hour rain delay, Tolle tossed six shutout frames, allowing four hits and one walk while striking out seven to take a no-decision. He now holds a 3.02 ERA, 1.07 WHIP, and 166:38 K:BB over 143 innings heading into his next start at Tampa Bay.
