Arizona Diamondbacks Designate Lourdes Gurriel for Assignment

The Arizona Diamondbacks designated veteran outfielder Lourdes Gurriel for assignment on Sunday, removing him from their 28-man and 40-man rosters. A key contributor during Arizona's 2023 World Series run, Gurriel has struggled to regain form following last season's ACL tear. He started just three games after returning from the injured list this month, posting a .544 OPS with two home runs across 201 plate appearances. He remains in the final guaranteed year of his contract.
