C.J. Stroud and Texans Pause Extension Negotiations Until After 2026 Season
Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud and the team have agreed to pause contract extension negotiations until after the 2026 season. Stroud will play out the final year of his rookie deal, while Houston has already exercised his $25.9 million fifth-year option for 2027 following GM Nick Caserio's Week 1 deadline. In 2025, Stroud threw for 3,041 yards, 19 touchdowns, and eight interceptions across 14 games, with Houston entering Week 1 as live underdogs.
