Clarke Schmidt Nearing Activation Following Fifth Rehab Appearance

Clarke Schmidt is closing in on a return to the New York Yankees' pitching staff as he works back from Tommy John surgery. Scheduled to make his fifth rehab appearance on Saturday, manager Aaron Boone indicated that Schmidt could be activated for the team's upcoming road trip if he completes the outing without issue. The Yankees hope to add Schmidt to their bullpen to bolster pitching depth for the final stretch of the season.
