Blue Jays Promote Rudy Martin to Major League Roster

The Toronto Blue Jays have promoted 30-year-old outfielder Rudy Martin to the major league roster to bolster outfield depth. Martin, a 2014 25th-round draft pick, was acquired off waivers from the Royals in July. His promotion follows a 12-year journey through the minor leagues, a tenure spanning back to a draft round that no longer exists in the current MLB structure. The move coincides with the team designating Jesús Sánchez for assignment.
