Geno Smith Named Jets Captain Ahead of First Start Since 2016

Geno Smith has been voted one of six Jets captains for the 2026 season and is set to make his first start for the franchise since 2016. The veteran quarterback, who famously declared 'They wrote me off; I ain't write back, though' during his time in Seattle, expressed that it is an 'honor' to lead the Jets offense as they kick off their campaign. His leadership role is a significant development as he returns to New York to guide the team.
