J.J. McCarthy Ruled Out for Preseason Finale With Ankle Injury

Vikings quarterback J.J. McCarthy will miss Friday's preseason finale against the Denver Broncos due to an ankle injury. While the injury forced him to miss practice on Wednesday and sidelined him for the exhibition, a source told ESPN that the team does not consider the issue to be long-term. McCarthy's absence impacts the ongoing roster evaluations and the competition for the backup quarterback spot behind Kyler Murray.
