Shedeur Sanders Named Primary Backup for Cleveland Browns

Shedeur Sanders will begin the 2026 season as the primary backup quarterback for the Cleveland Browns. After a competitive preseason battle for the starting role, the team officially tapped Deshaun Watson to lead the offense. While sources indicate the decision was not a landslide, Sanders remains a key part of the team's depth chart. The looming presence of the 2027 draft class continues to add pressure to the franchise's long-term quarterback situation.
