A.J. Ewing Makes History with Outfield Assist in Mets Win
Mets rookie A.J. Ewing helped make MLB history during Monday's 2-1 win over the Padres. Ewing and teammate Carson Benge combined for three outfield assists in the first two innings, a defensive feat not seen in at least 106 years. Ewing was instrumental in the narrow victory, specifically nailing a runner at the plate in the second inning to aid in run prevention. His defensive play was a critical factor in supporting Nolan McLean's six-inning pitching performance.
