Garrett Whitlock Placed on 15-Day IL with Elbow Inflammation

The Boston Red Sox placed Garrett Whitlock on the 15-day injured list Thursday due to right elbow inflammation. The move comes as the team manages significant stress on their pitching staff, necessitating a roster shuffle that included the recall of right-hander Greg Weissert from Triple-A Worcester. Whitlock, who had been identified as a potential IL candidate due to rotation depth concerns, will now begin a recovery process for his elbow.
