Diamondbacks Designate Paul Sewald for Assignment

The Arizona Diamondbacks have designated pitcher Paul Sewald for assignment as of Monday, August 10. The move, described as a 'brutal decision' by the club, comes as the team remains in the thick of a tight NL playoff race. Sewald recorded 24 saves this season but finishes his 2026 stint in Arizona with a 6.23 ERA. The move marks a significant shift for the Diamondbacks' bullpen strategy.
