Pirates Release Struggling Veteran Marcell Ozuna

The Pittsburgh Pirates officially released designated hitter Marcell Ozuna on Wednesday following a difficult 2026 campaign. Ozuna batted just .203 with 8 home runs during his tenure with the club. He was signed to a one-year deal last offseason that included a 2027 mutual option. Ronny Simon has been called up to replace Ozuna on the active roster as the Pirates look to move forward.
