Nick Kurtz Placed on 10-Day IL with Strained Thumb

The Athletics placed first baseman Nick Kurtz on the 10-day injured list on Tuesday, retroactive to August 1. The roster move follows a strained right thumb sustained by the player. Kurtz's placement on the IL is part of a series of roster adjustments for the Athletics, which also included the placement of pitcher Jeffrey Springs on the injured list.
