Yankees Demote Infielder Anthony Volpe to Triple-A

The New York Yankees have officially demoted infielder Anthony Volpe to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. The move, announced Monday, follows recent performance evaluations and roster adjustments following the trade deadline. Volpe's roster spot is being vacated to make room for the promotion of top prospect George Lombard, who is expected to join the major league club on Tuesday. The organization is shifting its focus as it continues to monitor its roster depth.
