Padres Acquire Former Top Pick Casey Mize from Tigers

The San Diego Padres acquired pitcher Casey Mize and Gage Workman from the Detroit Tigers in exchange for Kash Mayfield and Jackson Wolf. Mize, a former first overall draft pick, joins a bolstered San Diego rotation that also added Robbie Ray. The move marks an aggressive push for the postseason by San Diego, while the Tigers continue a significant roster teardown. Detroit pitcher Jack Flaherty expressed his disappointment regarding the departure of Mize and Skubal via social media.
