David Montgomery Departs Detroit, Boosting Backfield Fantasy Upside

David Montgomery has moved on from the Detroit Lions, a roster change that significantly impacts the fantasy football landscape for the 2026 season. His departure is expected to create more touchdown opportunities for remaining backs like Jahmyr Gibbs, who has averaged 21 PPR points per game recently. Montgomery's transition to a new team—listed as the Houston Texans—marks a shift in the Lions' offensive structure as they navigate changes to their veteran personnel.
