Max Scherzer Outdueled in Sunday Loss to Cardinals

Max Scherzer took the mound for the Toronto Blue Jays in Sunday's series finale against the St. Louis Cardinals. The veteran was effective, pitching six innings while allowing four hits and one earned run, but he was outdueled by Cardinals starter Matthew Liberatore. The Blue Jays ultimately fell 5-1, a result described as a depressing loss for the team as they struggled to generate offense in the late innings.
