Yankees Acquire Slugger Luis Garcia from Nationals

The New York Yankees have acquired infielder Luis Garcia from the Washington Nationals in a trade involving pitchers Ben Grable, Yovanny Cruz, Jack Cebert, and Jake Bird. Garcia, a breakout performer hitting .283 with 23 home runs, was a late scratch from Sunday's lineup due to the deal. The move provides the Yankees with significant left-handed power. Following the trade, Garcia posted a heartfelt goodbye to Washington, the city he called home for seven seasons.
